DAY CAMP COUNSELEADER
(AGES 20+)
(June 1-August 9, 2025)
Camp Skyline is located in Almont, Michigan. Here at Skyline we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a passion for working with children in an outdoor setting and have a desire to develop as a leader. Our staff members will join a community of counselors and campers that are looking for a life-changing summer experience. Skyline works to give staff a space to learn about themselves and the world around them as they develop skills and experience in problem solving, communication, creativity, empathy, and flexibility.
A Day Camp Counseleader will:
- work along side the Day Camp Director to organize, lead, communicate, and develop all parts of our Day Camp schedule. A counseleader has the desire to lead and guide their peers while consistently and confidently connecting with kids ages 5-14.
- Analyze and watch for areas needed strengthening in our camp schedule or camp community
- Is willing to work hard while being a good communicator. They can work with fellow staff to guide and care for campers with empathy, creativity and understanding. They are able to communicate camper needs with parents at check in and check out each day.
- Is organized and self-motivated. They are able to follow directions and get people the things they need while able to delegate and be effective with their time.
- Enjoys listening, problem solving, and finding new ways to connect campers to each other and the natural world around them
- Is willing to uphold peers to a high standard while working to understand other perspectives while living in community with others
- Does what needs to be done while communicating needs with the directors.
A Day Camp CounseLeader works from Sundays at 9:30am until Fridays at 5pm. Lodging is in a staff building and not with campers. Saturdays after staff training are always off. Compensation is a weekly stipend, in addition to food and lodging.
