DAY CAMP COUNSELEADER

(AGES 20+)

Camp Skyline is located in Almont, Michigan. In Day Camp we embrace each camper with love and acceptance. We believe that experiences in the natural world with community help develop resilience, joy, and kindness in our campers. Our days are full with programs and activities that aim to send our campers home dirty, tired, and full of joy.

Our Day Camp CounseLeader has experience and a desire to work with children in an outdoor setting. They are able to support and serve both staff and campers while at camp.
Our Day Camp CounseLeader will help to lead the day camp staff in serving our campers with kindness. They will serve as a mentor, leader, and advocate for both campers and staff.
Our Day Camp CounseLeader is kind, smart, and self motivated. They have a desire to learn new things. They can adapt and are flexible with change. They are excellent communicators and community builders. They are energetic, creative, and bring our staff and campers warmth and light.

Day Camp CounseLeaders will:

Advocate for day camp staff needs through open communication with Day Camp Director and Program Director.
Lead/Assist camp activities including archery, catch & release fishing, boating, makerspace, gaga ball, farm, garden, sports, games and free play at the zone.
Assist Day Camp Director in creative program planning, preparation and leadership.
Assist counselors with campers in need of social and emotional support.
Ensure that staff are prepared for leading their groups and activities.
Seek, give and receive appropriate feedback to all staff.
Participate in a CounseLeader training and possibly Lifeguard training.
Work with the Program Director and Day Camp Director, including regular meetings throughout the week.
Lead Day Camp staff in evening assignments including dishes, snack prep, maintenance, cleaning and program.
Weekly diligent and thorough cleaning of camp facilities.

A Day Camp CounseLeader works from Sunday at 9:30am until Friday 5pm. Lodging is in a staff building and not with campers. Saturdays are always off. Compensation is $4,785 for the summer, in addition to food and lodging. July 4-6 is off.
