KITCHEN TEAM LEADER/COOK

(Ages 20+)

  • Part-time weekend work September through May

  • Full-time work May 24-August 23

Camp Skyline is located in Almont, Michigan.  We think that when you put caring people together and help them to reach beyond the ordinary, great things happen. We take pride in what we do and know that each employee plays an important role in our Camp Community.  Our Kitchen staff fill the roles of providing all summer campers, and year long guests or groups, with homemade meals and clean buildings to use, all with kindness and compassion.

  1. A Kitchen Team Leader has experience and passion for cooking with whole foods, making meals from scratch for campers and groups ranging in size from 30-175 people. They understand nutrition and are able to prepare meals that are allergen free and provide meals for any dietary need.

  2. Kitchen Team Leaders are able to clean and maintain the kitchen following all ServSafe protocols, as well as help any staff with these same duties.

  3. Kitchen Team Leaders have a heart to co-lead summer staff with caring and respect. They have a desire to do what needs to be done in any situation, as well as communicate effectively with the KItchen Director while showing all people kindness and respect as a member of the camp community.

A Kitchen Team Leader will:

  • Lead Kitchen Staff in preparing all meals during the shift

  • Serve meals to campers and summer staff

  • Make cleaning a priority in the kitchen and buildings

  • Clean up after meals are served and do dishes

  • Help lead all staff on proper cleaning and serving protocols

  • Communicate effectively with Kitchen Director on all kitchen needs

  • Seek, give and receive appropriate feedback to all staff 

  • Be a member of the camp community, and a willing and creative problem solver

  • Attend summer Sunday staff meetings

  • Lead with kindness, compassion, and respect for all

  • Work as a team, leading with kindness in a safe environment.

The summer position is for 40 hours per week with Saturdays off.  Compensation can be hourly starting at $15 or a weekly stipend including room and board at camp.
