Erin Stokes is Skyline’s Director of Learning and Wellness. Erin first came to Skyline in 2009 as a camp counselor. Over the years she has served in many roles and became a year-round staff member in 2014. Erin completed her BS in Elementary Education at Eastern Michigan University and her MEd in Educational Leadership in June 2018 from Oakland University. Erin has worked in several different educational settings as a Preschool Teacher’s Assistant for a Montessori Program, a Substitute Teacher for Ferndale schools, After School Program Teacher at Upland Hills School, and has interned at Upland Hills School, Ferndale Upper Elementary School, and United Oaks Elementary in Hazel Park. Erin became a certified Wilderness First Responder in 2014. Erin discovered her love and passion for nature education while working at Nature’s Classroom, a non-profit outdoor environmental education program in the Northeastern United States. Erin is a lead instructor and oversees the Wild Child Program.

Nicole Sadocha is an assistant instructor for Wild Child. She started volunteering at camp in 2017 and transitioned to being a Day Camp counselor in June 2018. Nicole graduated from Aquinas College in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in sustainable business. She studied abroad in Ireland in 2009 and in Costa Rica in 2011. She formerly volunteered as an education intern at DeVries Nature Center in 2011. Nicole had a ruptured brain aneurysm due to an arterial-veinous malformation (AVM) on May 17, 2013. Her whole world changed in a moment. On her road to recovery, she stumbled upon Skyline Camp and Retreat Center. She started volunteering and fell in love with the staff. She found a purpose.

Rob Hoell, Skyline’s Director of Site & Facilities, enjoys see the campers while they are out and about. Rob graduated from the University of Missouri with a BS in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. He has held multiple positions within the camp world over the past 20 years including being a camp counselor, intern, program director, and camp director. Rob has been involved with camps both in Michigan, and his home state of Missouri. He has 4 daughters and loves to spend time in the outdoors with them, most especially in winter cross country skiing and ice skating. He is excited for the opportunity to learn and grow with our preschoolers.

Zoe Kerchen is an assistant instructor for Wild Child. Zoe has been a long time member of the Skyline family. She has been a camper, staff member, and cared for our summer staff's health and wellness. In 2022 she received her bachelor's degree in Geology from Earlham College in Indiana. Zoe was with Wild Child in Winter 2020 and is happy to return to be with us again this fall. Zoe enjoys forming connections with the campers and watching them grow while exploring the natural world.

Sara Hoell, Skyline's Director of Day Camp, loves caring for all, but especially youth, through good food.  In addition to coordinating the kitchen and housekeeping needs, she is one of Wild Child's lead instructors. Sara earned her BS in Elementary Education from Michigan State University, with Minors in History and Theatre.  In addition to teaching in Traverse City and Missouri, Sara has worked at multiple camps in a variety of roles for the better part of 20 years, finding herself in the kitchen for the first time in 2012.  Sara has found a passion in cooking and baking food from scratch that steps outside the zone of what is considered to be traditional “kid food”. When she is not in the kitchen, she can be found reading with her cats, exploring new hiking trails, and hugging trees with her 4 daughters and camp dog-in-training, Luna.

Amy Miller is a forever student of life, fascinated with the growth and development of all of Earth’s extensions. She is an observer and active part of Nature. She is an artist. Some of Amy’s favorite forms of art are farming, Yoga, health, cooking, painting, woodworking, stonework. She loves engaging in the childlike wonder that is our birthright and sharing the Joy! Amy is an assistant instructor for the program.

Shana Henry is Skyline's Program Director. Farming, gardening, music, play and exploration are the ways she shares her passion for land, animals, community and cross cultural understanding. Shana taught French and music to children in schools, before she had her two daughters and eventually began working full time at Skyline. Skyline has been home, work and inspiration since 2011, giving her ample time to study the plants and trees here. This year she’s joining the Wild Child campers as an assistant instructor.

Matt Henry, Skyline’s Executive Director, has been involved in outdoor/experiential education since the mid-1990s, both in the US and his native Australia. Along the way, Matt has worked in youth ministry and child protection. He has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education, a Doctorate in Ministry and a postgraduate diploma in Statutory Child Protection. In the camp world, Matt is the co-chair of Standards for the American Camp Association (Michigan), and is a Standards Instructor. He enjoys bringing the camp dog, Chief, to visit with the Wild Children.
